India and European Union Deepen Defence Cooperation as Sanjay Seth Holds High-Level Talks with Andrius Kubilius in New Delhi
Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth met Andrius Kubilius, European Commission Commissioner for Defence and Space, in New Delhi. The meeting focused on strengthening India–EU defence and security cooperation, maritime engagement, Indo-Pacific information sharing, and enhancing defence-industrial collaboration through joint projects and co-production opportunities in India.
During the discussions, both sides comprehensively examined avenues to expand bilateral defence and security collaboration, with particular emphasis on maritime engagements and structured information sharing across the Indo-Pacific region. The dialogue underscored shared strategic priorities in ensuring stability and security in critical maritime corridors.
The two leaders also explored practical mechanisms to enhance defence-industrial cooperation. This included expanding opportunities for the participation of European defence companies in joint projects in India, along with advancing co-production initiatives aimed at deepening industrial integration and mutual capability development.
The meeting reflected a broader commitment by India and the European Union to reinforce strategic alignment in defence and security domains while fostering greater industrial collaboration. It also highlighted the intent to build more robust frameworks for cooperation in emerging security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
